Lets face it, buying makeup can be tricky. Hopefully this post on some of the different face make up that I`ve tried can help you determine which products to add to your makeup bag.
I have this in “fairly light”. I love how many shades and variations they have. The “fair” was too pale for my complexion and the “light” was too yellow so I was really happy to find something in the middle that matches my skin well. It has built in sun protection with broad spectrum SPF 15 and is priced at $28.50 at Sephora. I apply it with the bareMinerals full flawless face brush.
This stuff makes your face feel SO silky smooth! I only wish that you got more for the price. The mini tube is $12 and the larger tube is $31 but its still pretty small in my opinion, and I went through it quickly. I tired some of their other face makeup in the Benefit Foundation Kit kit but this was the only thing I would buy again. FWIW I do like their mascara but I’ll leave eye makeup for another post.
This also makes your face feel smooth, but not as much so as the Benefit POREfessional. It does last awhile though and applies more evenly. I have the “brightening” but I like that it also comes in other specialities like oil control, and neutralizer, and of course the original. This is $24.00 at Sephora.
My not-so favorites:
Ok, maybe this was user error but I got this on a day that I was apparently feeling overambitious and didn’t think the instagram videos on contouring seemed too hard. I was shamefully wrong 😦 I use it occasionally but it doesn`t look anything like the pretty highlights and shadows that I see the on makeup tutorials. Definitely not worth the $46 I spent. The real kicker was when I brought this over for my cousin to do my makeup one day for a wedding and her husband asked “What is that? a chocolate bar?!”
I tried this as part of a kit. It was ok… just ok. And that’s pretty much how I have felt about the other Laur Mercier products I`ve tried. I switched to the Sephora collection foundation which is less than half the price and works just fine.
Luckily I didn’t spend money on this. Its $40 for a full size primer but I just got the free mini sample as a perk with my insider beauty reward points. This has good reviews but my experience was that it applied thick and almost felt sticky. Not what I want my face to feel like, yuck!
So my fab fashionistas, what face makeup have you tried?
